No minusta BSG universumissa on selvää ettei mikään ole sattumaa. Kaikki tapahtuu korkeamman voiman johdattamana

 

Heh, niinhän se vaikuttais. Mutta imo kuulostaa tyhmältä jos "korkeampi voima" on jo 30+ v sitten päättänyt että cylonit tuhoavat maailman ja Galactica jää - kuin ihmeen kaupalla - jäljelle.

The L.A. Times is reporting that a Battlestar Galactica TV movie has been green-lit!

There have been rumblings in the blogosphere about such a movie -– or movies -- for about a month now. (The Chicago Tribune's TV blog, The Watcher, reported that as many of three were in the works.) But the Times confirmed the green light via an interview with cast member Grace Park, who plays Cylon No. 8 (aka Sharon/Athena) on the Sci Fi series.

Park was unable to dish any juicy details about the movie's story or which actors from the series might be signing on, telling the Times that "nobody's manager or agent has been called. It's supposed to start in August." But she did mention that the cast's wrap party was on Saturday, so you have to think that some more definitive announcement will be forthcoming very soon. Traileria tuosta Spin-Off sarjasta..

Tottapuhuen en mitenkään ekstaasissa ole tuosta Caprica-sarjasta. En mikään spin-offien fani ole. Kai sitä nyt kuitenkin aluksi ainakin tulee katsottua, traileri näytti jopa hieman paremmalta kuin mitä selostukset sarjan ideasta.

 

4 kauden loppujaksoista tulee tavallista pidempiä.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Executive Producer David Eick told fans at San Diego Comic-Con that the second half of the fourth and final season of the series will have a number of extra-long, jampacked episodes as it works toward the climactic finale. In a subsequent interview, Eick said that producers have been "able to convince the network to let us air ... long episodes--[to] take single episodes and make them double episodes, ... [and to take] double episodes and make them quadruple episodes." Eick added: "Our episodes are always ... long, and we're constantly getting into the editing room with 10, 15, sometimes 20 minutes of material that you can't get into an episode." With just a half-season remaining, Eick said, "the story has become so critical in order to realize the arc of the series that we can't just cut stuff out and save it for later or push it 'til next year, the stuff we're used to doing. It's all got to be there."
Eick and the cast members refused to divulge any details about the final episodes, other than to express excitement over the upcoming storylines and to praise the finale, written by executive producer Ronald D. Moore, which they have just finished shooting. "There are so many great episodes in between, but ... the script of the finale, it's poetry, ... it really is," Michael Trucco (Samuel T. Anders) said. Jamie Bamber (Lee "Apollo" Adama) said that the final season, "like all good endings, ... sort of ties [into] the beginning. ... It's like a great piece of music where all the strains and all the melodies that you've had so far come and are referred to in the end. And there is a new beginning as well. ... The same for Lee. It's an ending and a beginning, and it's sublime."
As for bringing the series to a close, Eick said, "We were trying to do something different with science fiction, ... with the space opera; we were trying to kind of blow the wheels off the sort of Star Trek aesthetic, and I think on that front we feel very accomplished. ... It's definitely gratifying to feel like we captured some part of the public's imagination and that the show overcame its title and overcame, in some respects, its genre to get the respect it's gotten." BATTLESTAR GALACTICA returns with new episodes in early 2009.

Mitä nyt?

Elokuva? Eikös 4. kausi pitänyt olla viimeinen?

 

Tuli kesän mittaan katseltua alkuperäinen 1979-vuonna tehty Galactica ihan tutkimusmielessä. Kyllähän tuon nyt katseli sellaisena lastenohjelmana, mutta ei kyllä useampaa jaksoa kerralla. Oli siinä oma viihdyttävyytensä (vrt. MacGyver, Ritari Ässä), mutta ei mitään jakoa vertailussa uuteen sarjaan.

Aika paljon eroja löytyi uuteen galacticaan verrattaessa..

- Baltar oli puhtaasti evil pahis, ei mikään sekopäinen opportunisti/messias
- Starbuck, Boomer ja Admiral Cain miespuolisia
- Wanhassa sarjassa tavattiin jatkuvasti uusia ihmisiä ja eliöitä pitkin avaruutta, kun taas uudessa on vain Cylonit ja ihmiset, kaikki planeetat tyhjinä.
- Mitään poliittista kikkailua ei ollut, wanhassa versiossa Adama oli kaikkien rakastama itsevaltias
- Uudessa Galacticassa "realistiset aseet" vanhassa tsuikauteltiin laaseria
....

Tietenkään vanhaa versiota ei nyt muutenkaan voinut ottaa ihan tosissaan.

New York, NY August 7, 2008 - SCI FI Channel today announced an all-new Battlestar Galactica special event, set to air in 2009 following the conclusion of the series and then released on DVD by Universal Studios Home Entertainment shortly thereafter. Directed by series star Edward James Olmos and written by Battlestar Galactica's Jane Espenson, the two-hour event will begin shooting in Vancouver at the end of this summer. The cast includes Michael Trucco, Aaron Douglas and Dean Stockwell, with more to be announced in the coming weeks.

Starting before the events of the miniseries, our story focuses on familiar characters including Cylon Number One, known as Cavil (Stockwell), Resistance Leader Sam T. Anders (Trucco) and Chief Galen Tyrol (Douglas). In the beginning, the Cylons had a plan, but it didn't account for one thing: survivors. During the chaotic aftermath of the destruction, two powerful Cylon agents struggle with plots and priorities on the human ships that got away, and among the resistance fighters who were left behind.

Eli tuo sisältää kai kaikki TV:stä nähdyt 4. kauden jaksot (mitä niitä nyt oli, joku 10 kpl)? Onko tammikuussa alkavat uudet jaksot yhä 4. kautta vai alkaako jo 5. kausi? Eli onko tulossa tuon ym. boksin lisäksi joku 4.5 boksi vai suoraan 5. kausi boksi? Ota näistä nyt sitten selko...

 

Vissiin neloskaudesta tulee partI ja partII boksit ja sitten Complete season 4 boxi. Neloskauden jaksojahan ne tammikuussa tulevatkin vissiin on.

 

Itselläni on tuo boksi ja siinä tulee tosiaan Razor + 10 jo näytettyä jaksoa, eli puolet. Tuo boksi on kai sitten joku 4.0 vai miten ne nyt onkaan nimetty.
Neloskausi jatkuu tammikuussa jenkeissä. Vitosta ei enää tule.

Voi olla, että myös suomiversiot tulevat kahdessa boksissa kun eivät taida oikein mahtua kuudelle levylle, jos Razor on myös siinä mukana. Fiksuinta olisi julkaista Razor erikseen. Kannattaa nimittäin huomata, että osa viimeisestä jaksoista on extrapitkiä, jolloin niitä tulee tavallaan yli 20 viimeiselle kaudelle 4. Yleensä niitä on ollut maksimissaan 4 per levy. Eikä niitä ole varmaan järkeä pakata siten, että jälki on ihan tuhnuista joko kuvan ja/tai äänen suhteen. Mietin tätä lähinnä siksi kun nuo boksit ovat olleet tyypillisesti kuuden levyn paketteja, mutta eipä kai se olisi niin iso juttu tehdä siitä vimpasta koko kauden 4 kattavasta laatikosta isompaa. Blu diskinä ongelmaa ei olisi, mutta toistaiseksi noista Galactican bd-versioista ei ole tainnut kuulua mitään.
