MVD Entertainment Group vuotanut vielä virallista julkaisua vaille olevan Arrow Video -julkaisun: Kiga kaikyô a.k.a. A Fugitive From The Past (1965)
Palaan vielä tähän, valitettavasti kaikki MaC blu-ray kiekot on suodatettu LFE-kanavan osalta. Raja on vedetty 25 hertsiin. Paras LFE-kanava löytyy DTS raidalla varustetuista DVD julkaisuista tämän leffan osalta. Tässä vielä kommenttia aiheesta: BTW, for those keeping score at home I bought the Australian BD years ago based on Brett C's statement that it had the unfiltered DTS-HD MA track. Later analysis showed it to be identical to the filtered track the rest of the world got, so I don't know whether Brett was misinformed or something worse. I have since muxed the BD video and filtered MA track with the unfiltered lossy DTS track from the DVD. This most likely represents the best of all possible worlds right now with regard to the presentation of the movie.

Ranskassa Communion on julkaisemassa Alice, Sweet Alice (1976) leffan, josta Arrow on julkaissut laadukkaan, mutta harmittavasti vain A-lukitun version Jenkkilän ja Kanadan markkinoille. Briteissä 88 Films julkaisi aikaisemmin huonomman aluevapaan lätyn. Toivottavasti tuo Ranskan tuleva (23.9.2022) julkaisu on laadultaan lähempänä Arrow-lättyä, jotta saataisiin B-alueelle laadukas versio. Aluekoodien kirous nousi kohdallani pintaan, kun tuli vastaan Arrow-lätty, jota vanha aluevapaa soitin ei suostu kuvan kanssa näyttämään. Uusi halpissoitin soittaa, mutta ei ole aluevapaa, joten tuon Arrow:n A-alueen julkaisun hankkiminen ei ole minulle vaihtoehto. Tällaista paskaa tämä on...
Ranskalaisten julkaisujen kohdalla tilanne vain varsin usein on "hitti tai huti", ellei sitten sisällöntuottajana toimi esimerkiksi Carlotta Films 'n kaltainen tekijätiimi, jonka työjäljestä harvoin löytyy moitittavaa. Arrow Video -julkaisu on Arrow:n yksinoikeudella restauroima versio Warner Bros.:n 4K skannauksesta, jossa hyödynnettiin elokuvan alkuperäisiä 35mm kameranegatiiveja. Restaurointi viimeisteltiin Silver Salt Restoration johdolla Lontoossa, ja alkuperäinen Mono-ääniraita puolestaan Deluxe Audio Services :n miksaamana, josta vastasi Jordan Perry. Blu-ray:n masteroinnista ja tekstityksistä vastaa The Engine House Media Services, jonka vastaava valvoja Arrow:lta on (luonnollisesti) James White. Edellä mainituista seikoista huolimatta toivoa sopii, että lopputulos olisi kuitenkin enemmän Arrow:n kuin 88 Films:n suuntaan kallellaan. Näin loistava genre-elokuva ansaitsee kaiken mahdollisen huomion, mitä maailmalla on tarjota, eikä sen nauttiminen kotioloissa saisi missään tapauksessa jäädä kuvateknisesti(kään) puolihuolimattomasti toteutetun lopputuotteen armoille sen enempää kuin aluekoodirajoituksiin. Pienimuotoisena kuriositeettina muistutettakoon myös, että Arrow Video -julkaisun täysin leikkaamaton "Communion" -versio sisältää hyvin lyhyen, mutta graafisemman kohtauksen suhteessa tiettävästi kaikkiin muihin kotivideolla koskaan julkaistuihin versioihin. Syystä tai toisesta nimenomainen fakta jää mainitsematta julkaisusta puhuttaessa lähes yhteydessä kuin yhteydessä: Spoiler "Basically the one that’s been used on all “Alice, Sweet Alice” versions shows a shot of Father Tom falling to the ground and grabbing his neck after being stabbed - while the “Communion” Arrow Video version shows basically the same thing but this time it’s an alternate take where he coughs up blood while holding his neck." "In one of the special features on the new Blu-ray, Alfred Sole mentions that Allied Artists demanded the title be changed to “Alice, Sweet, Alice” before they would release it. My theory is that they also requested this shot be less graphic for some reason (which is odd - considering there are way more graphic shots in the film than this) so every “Alice, Sweet Alice” print contains this less graphic take. As far as I know, no other home video release has ever used the original negative as a source - which is why this “new” take has recently surfaced!"
Niin, kun vain tuon Arrow:n saisi B-alueen julkaisuna, mutta kun ei. Tähän asti olen protestoinut olemalla ilman koko hiton leffaa, mutta jos tuo sammakonsyöjien julkaisu on korkeatasoinen, niin voi olla että tuote kopsahtaa kohdallani ostoskoriin... ...eihän tuo 88 Films-julkaisukaan nyt kai ihan "päin persettä" ole, mutta tottakai sitä hakeutuisi mielellään sen parhaan version omistajaksi.
