Bo Widerbergin Mannen på taket - Komisario Beck tähtäimessä (1976) ilmestyy juurikin kohta eli 29/4. Julkaisija S-Studio on pistänyt levylle myös suomenkielisen tekstityksen. CDON varmaan saisi lisättyä tuotteen myös meikäläiselle sivustolleen.
Onko tietoa kuvanteknisistä asioista vrt. Arrow julkaisu, joka myös mainostaa "New restoration from a 4K scan of the original camera negative by Arrow Films". Mutta tuohon ilmestyi jo vuosi tai pari sitten. Onko esim. erikseen mainitussa uudessa värimäärittelyssä luvassa jotain suurtakin eroa?
No, hieman hämmästelisin, jos jo tässä vaiheessa kuvavertailua nimenomaisesta julkaisusta olisi tarjolla. Walt tokkopa ole toimittanut vielä tätä kirjoittaessa yhdellekään promoringissä vaikuttavalle kopioita, vaikka suhteellisen verkkaiseen kappaleensa yleensä saavat. Arrow -julkaisu oli heidän eksklusiivisesti restauroima, jonka alkuperäiset 3-perf 35mm kamera negatiivit skannattiin 4K resoluutioon EuroLab:ssä Roomassa, minkä jälkeen restaurointityö siirtyi Silver Salt Restoration:in tuotantotiloihin Englantiin ja sieltä edelleen Arrow:lle. Tällä välin puolestaan elokuvan ääniraidat alkuperäinen Mono, Stereo sekä 5.1 miksaukset (kiitos tästäkin Variety Communications:in) remasteroitiin alkuperäisistä negatiiveista Deluxe Audio Service:n toimesta Los Angelesissa, jossa paljastui mm. se, että audiosynkka oli aavistuksen epäbalanssissa suhteessa esitettävään kuvaan johtuen faktasta, että audioraita äänitettiin elokuvaan ajankohdalle ja tuotannon monikansallisuudenkin tähden tyypilliseen tapaan vasta jälkituotannossa. Blu-ray autoroinnista puolestaan vastasi The Engine House Media Services, joka teki mielestäni helvetin hyvää työtä jo lähdemateriaalin, sanottaisiinko kuvanlaadulliset ominaisuudet huomioiden. Arrow:n brittipainos elokuvasta on yksi lafkan nopeimmin loppuunmyydyistä, ja vaikka lopputuloksen definitiivisyydestä voi ja onkin oltu montaa mieltä (muuallakin kuin vain blu-ray.com:n kaltaisessa nettiyhteisössä), niin veikkaan, että ehkä (marginaalisin?) ero Arrow:n ja Scorpionin välillä tulee näyttelemään värimäärittely, johon Waltilla on kehkeytynyt jonkin sortin fiksaatio julkaisuissaan.
Jotain tämän suuntaista aavistelin itsekin. Kysyinkin vähän sillä mielin, että onko kyseinen Walt jo lörpötellyt asiasta jotain somessa tai muualla . Ei tässä muuten, mutta kusti kantoi juuri oven taakse hiton ison paketin vasta päättyneestä Arrow salesta ja yksi hankinta oli CotLD.
Ainakaan itse en ole moista vielä tätä kirjoittaessa pannut perkille, mutta tässä mielessä infoa kyllä vuotanee ennemmin tai myöhemmin. Veikkaan, että lienet Arrow -julkaisuun vähintäänkin tyytyväinen. Eikä vähiten johtuen päivän selvästä seikasta, että teknistä etumatkaa enemmän genressä painaa kuitenkin sisältö, jollaista käytännössä enää edes osata tuottaa. Henkilökohtaisesti tuli hankittua Arrow:n limited edition, jonka kanssa kävi silkka tuuri loppuunmyynnin etkoilla, viimeisten normihintaisten kappaleitten tullessa tyrkylle.

Ai perhana. Ei olisi kyllä uskonut että tässä vaiheessa täällä pohjolassa aletaan julkaisemaan vielä 1. Criterionin ja Arrown levyjä 2. Silmittömän halpoja aasia/italo boxeja. Tällä alueella kun on saatu muutenkin nauttia paikoin todella halvoista boxeista aiemminkin.
Discshopin tulevien julkaisujen listalta: Highlander (11.5.) Reservoir Dogs (13.7.) Näistä on suomijulkaisut olemassa, mutta taitaa olla molemmat olleet hyvänaikaa loppuunmyytyjä.
Niinpä tietysti. Maksoin kiltisti Arrow:n boksista itseni kipeäksi, koska sitä markkinoitiin merkinnällä "limited" ja en halunnut olla se hämeen hitain, joka sitten parin vuoden päästä kauhistelee pyydettyjä hintoja ebayssä. No, Arrow taisi julkaista boksin vaaleana uudellaan puolta pienemmällä hinnalla ja nyt on sitten tulossa pohjoismainen boksi vieläkin edullisemmin, mutta ainakin leffat on hyllyssä ja näin vähäisen dialogin leffoissa meikäläisen englannin kielen taidoilla enkkutekstit toimivat täysin. On kuitenkin erinomainen ja hieno asia, että täällä pohjolassa julkaistaan tällaista! Olisiko sitten oikeuksien haltioilla tarkoitus julkaista näitä täällä nähdäkseen paljonko näille on ylipäätään kysyntää ja sen mukaan sitten julkaista tai olla julkaisematta suuremmilla markkinoilla? J-Horrorilla on käsittääkseni vankka fanikuntansa, joka kyllä ostaa suunnilleen kaiken, mitä tällä osastolla vaan julkaistaan… …eli helpompi näitä voi olla kaupaksi saada kuin jotain iänikuisia nevahööd-romanttisia komedioita tai 15 kertaa julkaistavaa boksia Jurassic Park-leffoista.
