British distributors 88 Films have provided final details for their upcoming 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Bruno Mattei's Rats: Night of Terror (1984), starring Ottaviano Dell'Acqua, Geretta Geretta, Massimo Vanni, Gianni Franco, and Fausto Lombardi. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on August 11. It took some time for fright-fans to really groove to the eclectic, insane, and often inane brilliance of the late Bruno Mattei (ZOMBIE CREEPING FLESH). Ratkaisevaan asemaan nouseekin nyt sitten lähdemateriaali josta Warner Bros. on unrated-kohtaukset tuottanut. Ymmärtääkseni tätä ei ole julkisuuteen vielä tuotu, ja ainakin henkilökohtaisesti pelkään pahoin, että kyseessä lienee LaserDisc.
Uskoisin, että kohtaukset ovat lähtöisin jostakin paremmasta kuin LaserDisc? Epäilen, että Warner ei olisi edes julkaissut Unrated versiota kyseisessä tapauksessa? Punisher (1989) unrated kohtaukset oli ensin LaserDisciltä ja sitten tuli steelbook missä kohtaukset teatteriprintistä. Ero on valtava ja siksi toivon, että LaserDisc ei tässä tapauksessa ole lähdemateriaali.
Itsekin luottaisin että osa 5 olisi parempilaatuisesta kuin laserdisc, kuten eka osa. Onko Warner bros ikinä tehnyt noita inserttejä kuten pienemmät julkaisijat. Ei muistu mieleen....

Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy dokumentti sisältää lähes kaiken mitä näistä elokuvista on kerrottavana. Joten julkaisun ekstroja ajatellen, joitakin poistettuja kohtauksia olisi mukava nähdä, vaikka vhs tasoisella kuvalla. Jotkut odottivat unrated versioita osista 3-4. Kiinnostavaa nähdä onko tahtoa ja muskeleita riittänyt sen työstämiseksi edes siinä määrin, mitä fanit on saaneet rummuttaa jo liian pitkään. Parasta toivoen, paskimpaan varautuen... Todellakin! Rankaisijan jo tietynlaisen legendan aseman väkivaltaviihteen piireissä vakiinnuttaneet unrated-kohtauksethan oli tuotettu Ranskasta löydetystä huippukuntoisesta unrated teatteriprintistä, josta tuolloinen Koch Media työsti omaan Blu-ray julkaisuunsa kuvateknisesti ne kaikkein laadukkaimmat unrated-kohtaukset, vieläpä ranskalaisten itsensä tuottamasta skannauksesta — ero oli siinäkin jo huomattava, puhumattakaan eroista elokuvan entisiin unrated-painoksiin. Ranskahan oli yksi niistä harvoista maista joissa alkuperäinen The Punisher esitettiin elokuvateattereissa koko väkivaltakuvastonsa loistossa.
Ostin kyseisen ilmestyttyään. Koin kokonaisuuden kuitenkin lievänä pettymyksenä, vaikka haastatteluja sekä kiinnostavaa materiaalia saagan ympäriltä oli tarjolla runsaasti.
