"Empire" director Franc Reyes has signed on to shoot a remake of the 1949 boxing drama "The Set-Up" Robert Wise directed the original with a cast that included Robert Ryan as over-the-hill boxer Stoker Thompson along with Audrey Totter and George Tobias. The story revolves around Thompson's battle to get back into the ring and winning form despite complaints from his wife, played by Totter. Reyes is expected to start rewriting the script shortly before taking it out to financiers. Samuel Goldwyn Films has set up an English-language remake of the French thriller He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not at 20th Century Fox, which will finance and distribute the movie. The original, titled A la folie ... pas du tout was co-written and directed by Laetitia Colombani, who originally planned to star in the film. Audrey Tautou and Samuel Le Bihan starred in the film. Variety reports that Paramount has hired horror specialist Dave Kajganich to write its revival of Pet Sematary, produced by Alphaville. Kajganich, who's spec Town Creek is set up at Warner Bros., has also been hired to write the remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers for Warner and an update of 1979 ghost tale The Changeling for Focus Features. Earlier this year Paramount hired the scripting team of Mike Werb and Michael Colleary to pen a reimagining of Pet Sematary. The film is based on Stephen King's story of a family moving to a small Maine town with a pet cemetery and an Indian burial ground, in 1989.

I should make a category for "remakes" - it´s insane how many movies are being remade. I guess Hollywood just doesn´t have anyone original working for them, they leave that to the independent filmmakers. Japanin kauhuohjaaja Hideo Nakatan yksi seuraavista projekteista on v. 1981 tehdyn The Entityn remake. Arvaisin, että elokuvaa ei tehdä Japanissa japanilaisin näyttelijöiden, tosin paljoa tietoa tästä projektista ei ole. Dimension Films has acquired the remake rights to the Korean horror film Ryeong ("The Ghost") from Showbox, says The Hollywood Reporter. Vertigo Entertainment's Roy Lee, Doug Davison and Sonny Mallhi will produce. The story revolves around a teenage girl suffering from amnesia who discovers that she is somehow connected to a group of people who are being killed off one by one by a vengeful ghost. Robert Luketic is in negotiations to direct the big-screen version of the hit TV show Dallas for Regency Enterprises. Michael Costigan and the TV series´creator David Jacobs are producing, with Peter Cramer overseeing for Regency. Robert Harling, whose credits include 1989´s "Steel Magnolias", wrote the screenplay. JOHN WOO HAS SIGNED TO DIRECT "THE RED CIRCLE" According to Variety, John Woo has signed to direct "The Red Circle", an updated remake of the Jean-Pierre Melville-directed 1970 french pic "Le Cercle Rouge" for Paramount. Woo, who has been a huge fan of the original, will produce the pic with Lion Rock Prods. partner, Terence Chang. The long-gestating remake of 1939 comedy The Women is moving forward, says Variety. New Line is looking to distribute the film domestically and co-finance with Ascendant Pictures and Capitol Films. Diane English, who wrote the script, will make her directorial debut. Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, Sandra Bullock and Ashley Judd are in negotiations to star. Uma Thurman is being eyed for a role as well, adds the trade. Shooting is expected to begin in February, with Rolling Stones front man Mick Jagger producing and supervising the soundtrack. Bening will play the wronged woman (Norma Shearer's role), while Thurman would take the Joan Crawford part of the husband-stealer. Ryan, Bullock and Judd will play characters that are composites of some in the original. Variety
